Recurrent Respiratory Disorders.

In the newborn and infant, breathing is relatively uncoordinated and undeveloped, with the mechanics of breathing differing considerably from that of the adult. It takes many years for the respiratory system to mature - full rib cage formation can be as late as 25 yrs old. Recurrent chest infections may be a common complaint in childhood. Osteopaths consider that, in any child suffering from respiratory disorder, it is important to make the work of breathing as easy as possible by optimising the efficiency of the respiratory muscles & rib cage.
