Neck Pain & Headache in Pregnancy

Both neck pain and headaches are a common feature in pregnancy due to hormonal, vascular and postural factors. As the baby grows, increased weight on the front of the body and larger breasts may cause the neck to change its functional position. This overloads the neck muscles and small spinal joints, both contributing to neck discomfort and headaches.

An Osteopath can ease tension through the neck by massage and mobilization techniques, and give postural advice as to head carriage etc. Gentle work on the cranial structures can prevent headaches as well as sinus problems/nasal stuffiness by promoting good drainage through the area.
