We offer a really practical 2 part webinar, to provide an in-depth guide to examination and developmental assessment for infants 0-6months.
This has been specifically developed for trainee and fully qualified Osteopaths, Chiropractors, Physiotherapists, Cranio-Sacral Therapists and all practitioners who use hands-on approaches to infant care.
We include lots of unique graphics to explain the applied anatomy and pathology. All our evaluations are filmed on real babies.
Each presentation is delivered as a one hour+ video followed by a 30 minute discussion and question & answer session with Miranda Clayton.
The course viewing links are valid for 6 months following purchase and come with full notes. You can use any translation software to change the notes into your language of choice if necessary.

We assume that practitioners will have prior paediatric training with regards to taking a full paediatric health history for this age group

  • Introduction to examination of the infant neuro-musculo-skeletal system from 0-6 months – including tips and tricks on managing babies & parents!
  • Cautions & contraindications
  • Assessment of nutrition and hydration
  • Observation of the skin & marking
  • Observation and assessment of respiration
  • Assessing level of alertness
  • Development of the eye & eye movements
  • Assessing muscle tone
  • Assessing posture & spontaneous movements
  • Neurological examinations – primitive reflexes, postural reflexes, deep tendon reflexes, cranial nerve evaluation
  • Regional examinations – head, face & neck, shoulder girdle & upper extremity, development of hand function, thorax, abdomen, lumbar spine, pelvis, hip, knee & foot.
  • Early movement development and assessment – sitting, rolling, crawling

 

Will this online course be valid for my yearly CPD requirements? 
A 3 hour CPD Certificate of Attendance will be available following the broadcast of the second webinar.
If you are not a UK Registered Osteopath you are advised to check with your own professional organisation.

The Level of this on-line course is Postgraduate. To get the most out of the presentations you will need:

  • Be able to undertake a paediatric health history.
  • Understand your legal obligations when treating paediatric patients, including cautions & contra-indications to manual handling.
  • Understand the need for medical referrals where indicated.
  • Be clear that you are working within the guidelines of your particular professional or registering organisation
